Making a noteworthy entry into the Black Friday fray, ITV’s streaming service, ITVX, has launched an enticing deal for its Premium tier.
For a limited time, ITVX is slashing its monthly Premium subscription fee to a mere £1, unlocking an ad-free experience and access to more exclusive content.
Of course, there’s a catch: this rock-bottom price is only available for the first two months.
But this short-term offer could be the perfect chance for viewers to dive into ITVX Premium, exploring its rich content pool without the interruption of adverts during the festive season.
ITVX Premium, which normally costs £5.99/month, removes most adverts from the streaming service and also adds two standalone premium libraries – all the content from BritBox and from the European streaming service Studio Canal Presents.
For Black Friday, from now until December 4, 2023, new subscribers can get up to two months of ITVX Premium for £1/month – following a free 7-day trial.
There are a few additional caveats – so see below for the full details.
What Is ITVX Premium?
ITVX is ITV’s replacement for ITV Hub: a comprehensive streaming service with a big library of TV shows and films from ITV’s archives.
The free, ad-supported version of ITVX includes catch-up content from ITV’s linear channels, as well as box-sets from ITV’s past and shows that are exclusive to ITVX.
Over the last year, ITVX has seen a remarkable increase in subscribers, especially due to its exclusive streaming rights to popular shows like Big Brother, Love Island and major sports events.
Earlier this year, ITV’s children’s content also moved to ITVX – when the long-running CITV channel was shut down.
However, the journey hasn’t been entirely smooth, as ITVX faced its fair share of bugs and compatibility issues.
ITVX is available on most of the streaming devices in the UK, (including as of recently, Sky Q. However, ITVX is missing from a few older Freeview boxes (including, for now, the Manhattan boxes) and Freesat boxes, as well as older Smart TVs.
In addition to the free tier, ITVX has an optional Premium tier that removes most of the adverts and gives you access to the entire content library of BritBox, which includes more than 4,000 hours of classic British shows and films.
A few months ago, ITVX also added Studio Canal Presents to its premium tier, at no extra cost – it’s a European streaming service that normally costs £4.99/month on its own.
This adds 400+ titles to ITVX Premium, with films such as Paddington 1 and 2, the new Evil Dead reboot, classics like Apocalypse Now, TV shows like Hannibal (the prequel series to The Silence of the Lambs), all eight series of popular French procedural Spiral and much more.
Just remember that, unfortunately, ITVX Premium doesn’t remove ALL of the adverts: the live ITV channels feed will of course continue to have advert breaks, but also – most of the American shows and films still have breaks that show ITVX promos and trailers, due to strange licensing agreements.
How Do I Get ITVX Premium For £1?
To take advantage of ITVX’s offer, all you need to do is sign up for ITVX Premium via a web browser.
Although the signup page mentions voucher code “ITVXBF1“, it gets added automatically – so you don’t need to actually type it in anywhere.
And, if you haven’t claimed ITVX Premium’s free trial before – you’ll also get 7 free days before the first charge.
After the 7 free days are up, the subscription will automatically renew at the £1/month rate, for two months.
You have to redeem the offer by December 4, 2023, and you can’t sign up for it directly on most 3rd party devices (like a Fire TV or Roku).
So, you have to use the web version of ITVX to sign up first, after which you’ll be able to stream the content on any supported devices. One exception is the iOS app – which also seems to let people join this deal directly.
One important caveat is that only NEW subscribers to ITVX Premium are eligible.
So if you have an active ITVX Premium subscription, you won’t be able to “add” two £1 months (though, in my experience with these types of deals – if you had an ITVX Premium subscription in the past, and it’s no longer active – it’s worth at least trying to claim this offer – sometimes this works).
Do note that once your discounted months are up, the subscription will renew automatically at the regular price (£5.99/month) – so don’t forget to cancel before that happens, if you don’t want it to continue.

You can usually cancel and rejoin at the promo rate. I was paying full price but cancelled and rejoined when they were offering a price of £3.99 a month for 12 months.
The weird licensing agreements and the picture quality leave a lot to be desired on my Chromecast with Google TV (4k) though.
