British viewers hungry for more streaming content are getting two new collections from AMC Networks on ITV’s free streaming service, ITVX.

With over 1,100 hours of programming, AMC Stories (which is now available) and AMC Reality (which is coming in May) offer a diverse range of acclaimed series and captivating reality shows from AMC’s collection.

The new shows will be available for free on ITVX, and do not require ITVX Premium – although a premium subscription will, as always, remove the adverts (see more on the below).

Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead franchise may be disappointed to learn that the new collections have nothing to do with the hugely popular series, which is owned by AMC in the US (and is available on its American streaming service, AMC+, which is not available in the UK).

Therefore, those expecting to see the new Walking Dead spin-off shows, like the new The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, will be disappointed yet again – as those shows still don’t have a home in the UK

AMC Stories: Award-Winning Drama and Comedy

AMC Stories, which is available on ITVX starting today, features a selection of acclaimed drama and comedy series from AMC Networks.

The collection includes a variety of original series, such as the offbeat comedy Lodge 49, the horror anthology Creepshow (which is normally available on AMC’s horror-focused streaming service, Shudder), and the satirical comedy Portlandia.

Other notable titles include the critically acclaimed comedy Brockmire and the Western drama The Son, starring Pierce Brosnan.

AMC Reality: Outrageous and Captivating Reality TV

Set to launch in May, AMC Reality will offer a selection of popular reality TV shows.

The collection will include series such as Love After Lockup, which follows the relationships of recently released prisoners and their partners, and Growing Up Hip Hop, which focuses on the lives of the children of hip-hop legends.

AMC Networks International UK (AMCNI UK) is a London-based division of AMC Networks, a global entertainment company known for popular and critically acclaimed original programming.

Tanya Gugenheim, SVP, Business Development for AMCNI UK, stated, “We are excited to grow our partnership with ITV and bring our high-quality and popular original content to ITVX users through AMC Stories and AMC Reality.

“Our partnership and these launches represent an important next step in our streaming strategy of utilizing our extensive library to make our content available to a broader audience, and we look forward to building on this strategy and taking advantage of future opportunities to come.”

The launch of AMC Stories and AMC Reality follows the recent debut of True Crime UK on ITVX, a collection of true crime content that is a collaboration between ITV and the CBS AMC Networks UK Channels Partnership (True Crime UK is also available as a linear channel on Freeview and Freesat).

Sasha Breslau, Head of Content Acquisitions at ITVX, commented on the partnership, saying, “We’ve enjoyed a very successful partnership with AMCNI UK already during ITVX’s first year – and now we’ll be showcasing even more of their best programming.

“We know that ITVX viewers love big stars, glossy scripted and jaw-dropping reality – and this deal has it all.”

How To Watch AMC’s Shows On ITVX

ITVX, which launched in December 2022, is a free-to-watch (with adverts) service that replaced the long-running ITV Hub app as a full-fledged streaming destination.

In addition to the on-demand content, you can also stream all of ITV’s live channels via the app, as well as several “themed” ad-supported live channels that are dedicated to a single series or theme (but not on Freeview Play devices and TVs).

ITVX is available on most of the streaming devices and Smart TVs sold in the UK (except for several older boxes and TVs), as well as on Virgin Media’s TV boxes, Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q.

While ITVX is a free streaming service first and foremost, based on adverts, it also has an optional Premium tier that removes all the adverts – and also gives you access to most of the content from BritBox and Studio Canal Presents.

Watching ITVX Premium on TV

ITVX Premium costs £5.99/month or £59.99/year.

The new AMC Stories and AMC Reality collections do not require an ITVX Premium subscription – but having one will remove the adverts from the programmes on these collections.
