When it comes to sports, TV cord cutters in the UK don’t have too many options (without a Sky/cable subscription). So we’re happy to report that for a limited time, Amazon is offering a subscription to the Eurosport Player channel, which is part of their Prime Channels, for a discounted price of just… 1p per month, for up to six months.

Amazon Channels are only available as an add-on to Amazon Prime subscribers (but you can get a free 30-days trial of Amazon Prime). The service lets viewers in the United Kingdom pick and choose different channels of content, from a variety of providers – for an additional monthly fee.

Eurosport Player, which normally costs £6.99/Month, offers up to 18 LIVE channels of sporting events, from tennis to football. In addition, Eurosport Player subscribers will be able to watch the Australian Open tennis tournament which kicks off later this month.

“The deal supports Prime Video’s tennis line-up”, Amazon have said, “including the US Open and 38 ATP World Tour events, including all Masters 1000s events, which will be available exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland from 2019 to 2023 at no extra cost to Prime members.”

Once you add the channel to your Amazon Prime subscription, you will be able to watch it via the regular Amazon Prime Instant Video apps, which are available on phones, tablets, PCs and TV streaming devices (or smart TVs).

There are a few things to keep in mind with this offer: It can only be used by NEW Eurosport Player subscribers, and you’ll have to keep it going for six months to get the full benefit. Once the six months are up, the price will go up from 1p/month to £6.99/Month, so at that point, you need to reconsider whether it’s worth the cost for you.

The special offer is available until January 27.

The Alternative Sports Channels

As mentioned, there aren’t many other TV sports options out there. You can see some sporting events on the BBC and some of the other Freeview channels.

Additionally, there’s the Sky Sports channel on NOW TV, which offers several subscription tiers:

    • If you subscribe to Eurosport Player (either directly through Eurosport or via Amazon Prime) you can stream all their live events on some devices (phones, Chromecast, Apple TV etc’).
