TNT Sports For £5: Virgin Media’s Premier League Deal

Virgin Media has just launched two tempting offers that arrive at the perfect time for Premier League fans gearing up for the new season.

From today, you can get TNT Sports for just £5 per month for the first three months – a massive reduction from the usual £25 monthly fee.

There’s also a flash offer running until August 13th that gets you either a free 50″ Toshiba 4K TV or £145 bill credit with selected bundles.

But before you get too excited, there are some important caveats to understand about Virgin Media’s current TV setup and exactly how these deals work.

Virgin Media’s TV Transformation

If you haven’t been following Virgin Media’s TV changes lately, you’ve missed quite a lot. The company has completely overhauled how it delivers television over the past few years.

It’s worth noting upfront that Virgin Media TV isn’t available as a standalone service – you’ll always need one of their broadband packages as well, whether you’re going for the flexible Flex option or committing to a longer-term TV bundle.

The broadband requirement applies to all Virgin Media TV services, regardless of which hardware or contract type you choose.

Back in April 2022, Virgin Media launched its Stream box as an alternative to the traditional TV 360 system.

The Stream box delivers everything over your broadband connection rather than through cable infrastructure – think of it as Virgin’s answer to Sky Glass (and then Sky Stream).

Initially, the Stream box was positioned as a flexible option for customers who wanted something simpler than the full TV 360 experience.

You got access to some Freeview channels (delivered over broadband), popular streaming apps like Netflix and Disney+, and the ability to add premium packages on rolling 30-day contracts – but without the option to record.

Fast forward to 2025, and Virgin Media made a big change: the Stream box became the default option for all new TV customers.

If you sign up for Virgin Media TV today, you’ll automatically get a Stream box unless you specifically request the TV 360 system – and even then, you’ll pay extra for installation, and it’s not available in all areas.

This shift means new customers now get a streaming-focused device that can’t record programmes or fast-forward through adverts. The Stream box is purely for live viewing and on-demand content.

Virgin Media also introduced “Flex” as their flexible TV option. Flex operates on rolling 30-day contracts and also comes with the Stream box as standard.

You can add and remove subscriptions like Netflix, Disney+, and Sky Sports without being locked into lengthy commitments, though you do pay a £5 monthly fee for the basic Flex service.

Traditional TV bundles are still available, but they tie you into 24-month agreements – not just for the broadband, but also for the TV part.

The TNT Sports Saga

Understanding Virgin Media’s current relationship with TNT Sports requires a bit of background as well.

TNT Sports is the premium sports service that emerged from BT Sport’s transformation in 2023, when Warner Bros. Discovery acquired half of BT’s sports business.

The service holds some of the UK’s most valuable sports rights, including exclusive Premier League matches (particularly those Saturday 12:30pm kick-offs), UEFA Champions League football, the FA Cup, MotoGP, UFC, boxing, and international cricket.

In early 2025, it absorbed all of Eurosport’s UK content when that brand was discontinued, adding tennis Grand Slams, cycling’s Grand Tours, and winter sports.

Virgin Media’s history with TNT Sports has been a bit of a roller coaster.

In September 2023, Virgin Media removed TNT Sports from its TV bundles entirely. This surprised many subscribers who had grown accustomed to having it included at no extra cost.

New customers suddenly had to add TNT Sports as a separate paid add-on.

The New Virgin Media – TNT Sports Deal

Starting today, you can get TNT Sports for just £5 per month for the first three months, after which it reverts to £25 monthly.

Getting TNT Sports standalone, on Discovery+, currently costs £30.99/month (without the entertainment programmes – following the recent changes to Discovery+’s tiers).

The offer is available on several Virgin Media plans:

  • Flex (the flexible 30-day rolling option)
  • Bigger Sports
  • Bigger Movies/Biggest (including Volt variants)
  • Mega Volt

For most of our readers, the Flex option will be the most appealing since it doesn’t lock you into a long-term TV contract (and you can then subscribe to Sky Sports as a standalone add-on as well, if you want the whole Premier League roster).

However, you’ll still need Virgin Media broadband on a standard 24-month contract – and the pricing of that depends on the speed you choose.

If you choose Flex purely for this TNT Sports deal, remember that Flex itself costs £5 per month, so your total bill for the first three months will be £10 monthly (£5 for Flex + £5 for TNT Sports), but you’ll also get the Stream box, and Freeview channels over broadband.

After the initial three months, TNT Sports jumps to £25 per month. Since Flex operates on rolling 30-day contracts, you could cancel and wait for another promotional offer if £25 feels too steep.

The timing is clearly designed to capture Premier League enthusiasm; however, you’ll need to decide whether to pay the full £25 monthly rate later if you want TNT Sports for the entire season.

The Free TV Flash Deal

Virgin Media is also running a separate flash offer until August 13 that gives you either a free 50″ Toshiba 4K TV or £145 bill credit when you sign up for selected bundles.

This offer is available on:

  • Bigger Sports
  • Bigger Movies/Biggest (including Volt variants)
  • Mega Volt

Notably, it’s not available on Flex – you’ll need to commit to a 24-month contract for one of the traditional TV bundles.

Virgin Media is promoting these as their “lowest ever monthly prices,” with examples including:

Bigger Combo bundle + Sports (516Mbps broadband, 200+ TV channels, 8 Sky Sports channels):
£58.49 per month (rising to £61.99 from April 2026, then £71.99 from April 2027).

Biggest Combo bundle (516Mbps broadband, 210+ TV channels, Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD, Netflix standard with ads):
£68.49 per month (rising to £71.99 from April 2026, then £74.99 from April 2027).

All these packages come with 24-month contracts and no setup fees. The pricing structure shows Virgin Media’s new approach to price rises – fixed annual increases rather than the unpredictable inflation-based rises they used previously.

As usual, this offer is for new customers only.

  1. There is no mention of what definition these services are delivered in, is it standard, high or what.
Do Virgin charge extra for high def like Sky do as this can add a considerable extra cost to the service.
