Good news for fans of Spanish football: ITV announced a deal with LaLiga TV, which shows live football matches from the Spanish league, where 10 major games each season will be broadcast live and free on ITV’s channels and on ITV Hub.
The new deal will last for three seasons, from this current season up to and including 2024/25.
LaLiga on ITV, ITV4 and ITV Hub (and later ITVX) will feature 10 matches per season, with either FC Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atlético Madrid appearing in ITV games (see our guide below on how to watch via streaming).
The rest of LaLiga’s games – 300 live matches in total – will continue to air on Premier Sports, which is available on Sky, Virgin Media, and on Amazon’s Prime Video channels, for £7.99/month.
ITV’s first free LaLiga match will be Real Sociedad v FC Barcelona on Sunday, August 21. Coverage will begin on ITV4 at 8:30pm, with kick-off at 9pm.
Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said:
“This deal ensures free-to-air coverage for all football fans of one of the most entertaining leagues in the world.
“The deal with Premier Sports will give fans the chance to see some of the most iconic clubs and world-class players in action, live on ITV.”
How To Watch LaLiga On ITV
Thanks to the new deal with Premier Sports, 10 LaLiga matches will air and stream for free on ITV every season.
To watch the games live on your TV, you simply need access to ITV – which is free via Freeview (with an aerial), YouView and Freesat.
If you prefer to watch LaLiga on ITV via streaming, you can do so on ITV Hub – the streaming service/app from ITV.
ITV Hub is available on a wide range of streaming devices, such as Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Freeview Play boxes like the Manhattan T-3R, and more.
Later this year (Around November) ITV Hub will be replaced by a new streaming service – ITVX, which will include more than 15,000 hours of content (compared to 4,000 on ITV Hub), most for free (with adverts), as well as a premium tier that will add BritBox to the mix.
And while ITV Hub is not currently available on Sky Q – the plan is for ITVX to be available on it from the start.
The live version of ITV’s channels will transfer over to ITVX, which will be the new streaming destination for ITV’s LaLiga matches.
LaLiga TV On Premier Sports And Amazon
In addition to the 10 matches that will be free on ITV, 300 LaLiga games will air on Premier Sports this season, including CA Osasuna vs. Sevilla FC, FC Barcelona vs. Rayo Vallecano, and UD AlmerÃa vs. current champions Real Madrid.
