With ITVX featuring British shows along with American imports, some of the content highlights for January include new true crime series A Murder in the Family, the highly anticipated new comedy series, Deep Fake Neighbour Wars, a new series of The Masked Singer, full seasons of iconic American supernatural shows like Smallville – and more.

And – with BritBox now being a part of ITVX – subscribers will also get several new January additions that will be exclusive to Premium subscribers.

ITVX, is a free-to-watch (with adverts) service that’s replacing the long-running ITV Hub app, and is meant to be a full-fledged streaming destination.

ITVX officially launched on December 8, with more than 10,000 free hours of on-demand content, including 35 flagship shows, 200+ series and 250+ films.

In addition to the on-demand content, you can also stream all of ITV’s live channels via the app, as well as several “themed” ad-supported live channels that are dedicated to a single series or theme (but not on Freeview Play devices and TVs).

ITVX is available on most of the streaming devices and Smart TVs sold in the UK (except for several older boxes and TVs), as well as on Virgin Media’s TV boxes, Sky Glass, Sky Stream – and, at some point in the near future – Sky Q (which never had an ITV Hub app).

While ITVX is a free streaming service first and foremost (with adverts), it also has an optional Premium tier that removes all the adverts – and also gives you access to most of the content from BritBox.

In fact, as we previously reported, BritBox no longer offers standalone subscriptions to new subscribers, and is instead sending people to ITVX’s Premium tier.

ITVX Premium costs £5.99/month or £59.99/year.

ITVX offers all the catch-up programmes from ITV’s linear channels. But in addition to that – these are the content highlights for January 2023:

Stonehouse

The full series will be available on ITVX following Episode 1 broadcast on ITV1.

Stonehouse ITVX

The life and times of disgraced Labour minister John Stonehouse are dramatised by acclaimed writer John Preston with BAFTA award-winning and Emmy-nominated Matthew Macfadyen (Succession, Quiz) in the leading role and co-starring Keeley Hawes (Honour, It’s A Sin) as Stonehouse’s wife Barbara.

The MP for Walsall North left behind his loving wife Barbara and three young children as a shocked public and media presumed he had drowned or been eaten by sharks.

Charismatic, oozing with charm and brimming with confidence, Stonehouse had impressed Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Labour stalwarts from an early stage in his parliamentary career. From a working-class background, he’d graduated from the London School of Economics, was in the RAF during the War and seemed the ideal candidate for a life in politics.

As the drama unfolds, it becomes apparent his reputation as a devoted family man masked the truth, as he’d embarked on an extramarital affair with his secretary, Sheila Buckley, and acted as a spy for the Czech Secret Service in the 1960s.
