Five Freeview Channels Are Changing Next Week

It’s retune time again: Five Freeview channels, including the relatively new CCXTV, will be changing their numbers on December 7, with viewers having to retune their devices in order to keep watching.

This change comes a month after a major Freeview shakeup, where more than 30 channels switched places.

Following that, Freeview proposed an even bigger change, relating to SD and HD channels – which might occur in the future.

Freeview, which was established back in 2002, is the United Kingdom’s terrestrial television platform.

It provides free-to-air TV channels and radio stations (via a Freeview aerial), and includes more than 80 standard and HD channels (See our full Freeview guide here). Some of the channels, like the BBC and ITV, can also be watched on streaming devices.

The new changes, which will happen on December 7, are:

Dave Ja Vu – Moving from Channel 79 to Channel 23

The timeshift version of the Dave channel (owned by UKTV), which broadcasts programmes one hour after their airing on Dave, 24 hours a day.

Yesterday+1 – Moving from Channel 75 to Channel 74

Another UKTV owned channel, which focuses on history and science programming.

The +1 is the timeshift version, which airs programmes one hour after their airing on the main Yesterday channel.

CCXTV – Moving from Channel 23 to Channel 73

CCXTV launched back in April, with a somewhat unique mix of programmes – from Great British Ghosts to new episodes of the popular soap, The Bold and The Beautiful.

Jewellery Maker – Moving from Channel 73 to Channel 71

A jewellery shopping channel which launched back in 2010.

Shopping Quarter – Moving frmo Channel 74 to Channel 72

A shopping channel that focuses on craft and sewing products.

Here’s a quick table of all the changes:

Channel  Channel Number  New Channel Number
Dave Ja Vu  79  23
Yesterday+1  75  74
CCX TV  23  73
Jewellery Maker  73  71
Shopping Quarter  74  72

Depending on your Freeview box, you might need to do a manual retune, so that your electronic programmes guide is up to date.

You can find more information on how to retune your device, on Freeview’s retuning help section.

Finally, Ketchup Channel (211) will be changing its name to Ketchup TV. There will be no changes to the channel’s broadcast hours or content.

  1. What channels were I live the city is in two. The people who get there programming from the Dundee mast get all the free view channels. But people living in the city, only get 23 channels

  2. I live in rural South Wales in an area that we can only get 19 Freeview channels. Some are HD duplicates of the main terrestrial channels and a couple are purely Welsh speaking local channels.
Fortunately we have a Freesat box and get 180 free to air channels on that.

  3. Wow !!! . Never mind the channel orders. Don’t you think it’s about time we had more HD channels instead of crapy poor quality 70s re-runs ?. They all advertise so I’m sure this could be achieved. Most people, I would imagine now have HD , 4K and now 8K TV’s. So what’s the problem?????. Fed up with this backward tv system.

  7. It’s becoming clear that the Freeview channels are selling out to providers like
Amazon ..not caring about the people who cannot afford the pleasures of
other providers. It was us that made you what you are today. I was right in the middle of Merlin when it was taken from Freeview ..why? Now we have repeats repeats repeats ..

    • Keep it county actually changed its name to showcase TV and left freeview in 2019 due to it being allegedly too expensive for them to stay on freeview TV. They continue broadcast in Manchester on freeview and on sky TV, Freesat and they also stream online.
