We’ve all been there. One moment you’re flipping through channels, and the next, your remote has disappeared into the abyss of your sofa cushions.

But fear not, Sky Q users – The days of remote hunting are over.

Sky Go’s latest update is here to save the day (and your favourite shows) with its brand new feature – a Virtual Sky Q Remote.

Sky Go is a streaming TV app that’s available free for Sky TV subscribers. It’s designed to complement Sky TV by allowing subscribers to watch live and on-demand Sky TV via an internet connection, making it perfect for those on the go.

Sky Go offers a wide range of content, including sports highlights, the latest news, movies, and TV programmes.

It’s available at no extra cost to existing Sky TV customers, with accessible content depending on your Sky package.

The Sky Go app is available on a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices including Apple TV (but the new virtual remote only works on the iOS version for now – see more below).

Sky Go’s latest update, version 23.5.1, is rolling out to users as we speak (some have already seen it in the last couple of weeks), and it’s bringing a game-changer to the table. Or the sofa cushions.

The Virtual Sky Q Remote, accessible right from your Sky Go app, is here to ensure that a lost remote doesn’t stand between you and your favourite shows.

The Virtual Remote is like your regular remote but… better? It lives right inside your Sky Go app, so as long as you have your phone, you have your remote.

It’s designed to look and feel just like your physical remote, so you won’t miss a beat.

And of course, there’s nothing stopping you from silently changing the channels on your phone, while others are sitting right next to you, questioning what happened.

And if you’re someone who prefers larger text sizes on your device, Sky Go has got you covered.

The virtual remote will automatically adjust to a larger button view, making it even easier to navigate.

This Sky Go software update also brings a sleek dark mode for those late-night binge sessions (plus you won’t wake anyone up with your shiny virtual remote), and a new configurable home page to make your Sky Go experience even more personalised.

To get these features, all you need to do is head to the App Store and update your Sky Go app.

Sky Q Virtual Remote: Only on iOS

While the Virtual Sky Q Remote is a great addition to the Sky Go app, there are a couple of things to remember.

First, this feature is currently only available for Sky Q and Sky Q Mini boxes, so Sky Glass and Sky Stream users will have to keep waiting (or find their physical remotes).

Also, for now, this feature is only available for iOS users. But don’t worry, Android users, Sky Go has promised to bring this feature to you later this year.

How To Summon Your Virtual Sky Q Remote

Once you update to the latest Sky Go version, bringing up the virtual Sky Q remote is easy:

  1. Fire up your Sky Go app on your iOS device.
  2. Tap on ‘Settings’.
  3. Look for ‘Devices’, and voila! You’ll see ‘Sky Q remote’.
  4. Choose the box you want to control, and you’re all set.

So go ahead, update your app, and say goodbye to the days of remote hunting… if you have a Sky Q box.
