Several popular American TV shows such as Arrow, Gotham, Two and a Half Men and more are coming to ITV’s new streaming service – ITVX.
Although some of the shows are also available on other streaming services in the UK (or have been in the past) – on ITVX, they will be available to watch for free, with adverts.
These shows (see full list below) will be added to ITVX’s existing content library, which includes more than 10,000 hours of content on the free tier, along with 6,000 additional hours from BritBox, on the Premium tier.
As we previously reported, ITV has big content plans for ITVX – including 35 original flagship shows – but also films and TV shows from the US, to round up the offer, and turn ITVX into a major streaming destination.
New shows will launch weekly – many of which will be available on ITVX long before they air on ITV’s old-school linear channels.
The new Warner Bros shows that are coming thanks to the deal announced today, will be added to ITVX in the coming weeks – some before Christmas, and some in early 2023.
What Is ITVX?
ITVX, which replaces ITV Hub, launched last week – ahead of its “official” launch on December 8. It already works on several devices, and on the web (via a browser) – but support for more devices will be added in the coming days and week.
Keep in mind that quite a few older devices – Humax boxes, older Samsung TVs and more – will not support ITVX.
ITVX includes live streaming of ITV’s linear channels, catch-up shows from those channels, on-demand boxsets, and several “themed” live channels that air back-to-back linear content based on a specific theme or show.
While ITV is focusing heavily on the ad-supported free tier, ITVX also has a paid Premium tier, which removes all the adverts when you’re watching on-demand content.
The Premium tier currently costs £5.99/month or £59.99/year.
Premium tier subscribers also get access to the entire content library of BritBox (on ITVX), which includes more than 4,000 hours of classic British shows and films (including 600 classic Doctor Who episodes).
The standalone BritBox app and service will continue to co-exist alongside ITVX, but ITX Premium subscribers won’t get access to the BritBox app, and vice versa.
Warner Bros. Shows Coming To ITVX
A deal with Warner Bros. Discovery was announced months before ITVX’s launch, with some content from Warner already available on the service – but today, ITV revealed more popular shows that will be coming to the service soon.
Mind you, these are not new shows, but ones that some would call “classic” – and are mostly genre shows.
The list includes Arrow, starring Stephen Amell as the titular vigilante superhero and Gotham, which stars Ben McKenzie as Detective Gordon and David Mazouz as the young Bruce Wayne.
Furthermore, all eight series of the ever-popular The Vampire Diaries, starring Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder, and all five series of spin-off supernatural drama The Originals, starring Joseph Morgan, will also be available to stream for free on ITVX in early 2023.
If you want to go back even further, all ten series of the DC drama Smallville, starring Tom Welling as a teenaged Clark Kent before he embraces his powers and understands his true calling as Superman, will also be coming in December.
And lastly, all twelve series of the popular sitcom Two and a Half Men, starring Charlie Sheen (seasons 1–8), Jon Cryer, and Ashton Kutcher (seasons 9–12) are also coming in December.
