Tubi, the free ad-supported streaming service, has massively expanded its UK content library, adding more than a thousand films and TV episodes through new deals with major studios.
Just under a year since returning to British shores, the platform has doubled its content offering to over 40,000 films and TV episodes.
The expansion comes through freshly inked agreements with AMC Networks, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, New Regency and Sony Pictures Entertainment, bringing a range of action, thriller, comedy and horror content to UK viewers.
Tubi’s Rocky Road in the UK
For those who are unfamiliar with Tubi’s somewhat bumpy UK story, the platform initially launched in Britain years ago before withdrawing in 2018 due to GDPR regulations.
After a six-year disappearing act, Tubi made its comeback in July 2024, initially offering around 20,000 films and TV episodes on our side of the pond.
The free streaming service has certainly grown impressively since then. Globally, Tubi has reached a whopping 97 million monthly active users by early 2025.
Owned by Fox Corporation, Tubi has already made its mark in the US market and is now trying to build up its UK presence through these big content deals.
The service is available as a free app on some of the major streaming platforms such as Amazon’s Fire TV, Roku, iOS and Android smartphones, and via web browsers.
What’s New on Tubi UK
The latest deals bring a decent range of titles to the platform, with Sony’s contributions being the most recognisable. Among the big-name films coming to the service are Baby Driver, Born on the Fourth of July, and The Da Vinci Code from Sony.
From NBCUniversal, horror fans can look forward to The Last House on the Left, Mama, The Strangers, and The Purge TV series, along with the comedy classic Death Becomes Her.
AMC Networks is bringing several TV series to the platform, including True Crime Story, Supa Girlz and The Son, as well as films like Bad Axe, Revenge, and Speak No Evil.
Already available from Sony are Ghostbusters (2016), District 9, Elysium, I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), and the Resident Evil franchise.
Additional films coming later this year include:
- As Good As It Gets
- Cadillac Records
- Retreat
- This Is The End
- You Don’t Mess With The Zohan
- Think Like A Man
- The Ugly Truth
- The Da Vinci Code
- Baby Driver
How Tubi Is Doing in the UK
“Since launching nearly a year ago in the UK, Tubi has doubled its library size, cementing its position as offering the biggest collection of free movies and TV series in the UK,” said Ross Appleton, General Manager, UK, at Tubi.
“With these latest studio deals we’ve doubled down on providing fans with a deep catalogue of movies and TV series across popular genres like horror, action, thrillers, and comedies,” said Sam Harowitz, who handles content deals at Tubi.
Tubi’s UK Content: A Mixed Bag
Despite this impressive expansion, it’s worth noting that – as was the case when Tubi first launched here – most of its content still consists of TV shows and films you’ve likely never heard of.

While this latest content drop does include some films you might recognise, particularly from Sony, the library remains packed with obscure offerings that could either be hidden gems or forgettable filler.
The gap between Tubi’s US and UK libraries also remains pretty wide, with American viewers still enjoying access to a better selection of blockbusters and premium TV shows.
While the UK service has definitely improved with these new deals, it still lacks the depth of well-known content available to US viewers.
That said, for those willing to explore beyond the mainstream and who appreciate not having to pay yet another subscription fee, Tubi’s expanded library offers plenty of viewing options – especially for fans of horror, action, and thrillers.
