Good news for Sky’s customers: Sky has announced a new partnership with Lionsgate+, the international premium streaming service from STARZ, that will give subscribers more stuff to watch – at no extra cost.
This collaboration is set to provide Sky subscribers with access to Lionsgate+’s content for three months at no additional cost, along with several seasons of high-profile shows that can be watched without even having to sign up.
Included in the Lionsgate+ library is the political thriller Gaslit starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, and all seasons of Outlander, with exclusive access to new episodes of Season 7.
The travel docuseries spinoff, Men in Kilts featuring Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, is also part of the service’s offerings.
And the upcoming third season of the period dramedy The Great, starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult is also included.
The promotional offer, which begins on July 28 and runs until August 27, allows Sky subscribers to sign up for Lionsgate+ as part of their existing subscription (see full instructions below).
After the initial three-month period, the service will revert to its standard subscription rate.
What Is Lionsgate+
Lionsgate+, the premium streaming service from Lionsgate/STARZ, is a relatively new player in the UK’s streaming market.
It was launched in the UK and Ireland in October 2022, following a major rebrand from its previous identity, StarzPlay.
The service is a localised streaming-only version of the US premium channel Starz, but the selection of shows in the UK comes from Starz and other international TV platforms.
The name Lionsgate+ is derived from Lionsgate, the entertainment company that owns the service. Formed in 1997, Lionsgate is a producer and distributor of films and TV shows.
The service doesn’t hold a very large library of content when compared to major streaming services like Netflix and Disney+, but it does feature several notable titles in the UK.
These include Outlander, Power Book, The Great, Station Eleven, and more. The service also adds a collection of blockbuster movies to the platform every month.
Lionsgate+ is available as a standalone streaming service (on the web and on mobiles), or as an Amazon Prime Video Channel.
The standalone Lionsgate+ app is available for Android and iOS devices. Once the app is downloaded, users can usually get a short free trial, after which they will pay the monthly subscription price of £5.99.
In October 2022, Lionsgate+ arrived on Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q as an app, marking a new European partnership that aimed to bring more TV and film content across Sky platforms.
How To Get Lionsgate+ For Free On Sky
The Lionsgate+ app is available on Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream. Remember that even on Sky Q, you’ll need broadband to watch anything on Lionsgate+, as it’s a streaming service.
Starting from July 28, existing (or new) Sky subscribers will be able to get three months of Lionsgate+ for free.
To access this offer, Sky customers can use their voice remote and say “Get Lionsgate Plus,” or find and open the app in the apps rail, which will then start the process of setting up the app and the free trial.
Remember that once your free three months are up – your Lionsgate+ subscription will renew automatically at the regular £5.99/month price.
But wait, there’s more: as part of the promotional offer, Sky subscribers will have the opportunity to sample several of Lionsgate’s popular series, free of charge – without the need to even sign up.
These include the complete first seasons of Power Book II: Ghost from the Power Universe from Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, The Girlfriend Experience starring Riley Keough, and the complete first season of the global fan-favourite romantic saga, Outlander.
