One of 2022’s most hotly anticipated sequels, Scream (also known as Scream 5) is available now on UK streaming as a digital purchase – somewhat later than expected.

So get your popcorn ready, because the film became available as a VOD purchase in the UK on March 30, 2022, on most of the major digital stores, so you can now watch it on your TV (or smartphone).

The film, which did very well in cinemas worldwide, was released in UK cinemas on January 14, 2022. Therefore, it came to streaming in the UK 75 days after its original release.

In the US, Scream 5 (2022) is also available to stream on the Paramount+ streaming service at no extra cost, and has also been available as a digital purchase since March 1.

But since Paramount+ hasn’t launched in the UK yet (and is expected to reach us “by summer”), fans who want to stream Scream 5 will have to buy it digitally on the VOD stores.

As of this writing, Scream 5’s DVD and Blu-ray versions are also available for pre-order, with an expected delivery date of April 11 (see full bonus material details below).

Scream, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett is the 5th chapter in the popular slasher film franchise.

The series started in 1996 with the first film – also called Scream – which was directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson.

The next three instalments were also directed by Wes Craven, with Scream 4 ending the first run in 2011.

The new film – simply titled Scream – is a direct sequel to the fourth film, therefore it’s often referred to as Scream 5 (or Scream 2022).

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, Calif., a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.

As before, the film is a horror fest with self-referential comedy notes. It stars Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega and Jack Quaid, with some of the original cast members returning – Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Courteney Cox and more.

Scream 5 was a box office success (at least with the pandemic still limiting worldwide audiences), and made a worldwide total of over $140 million, as of this writing.

The film’s success has led to a sixth instalment being approved – and it will reach cinemas on March 31, 2023.

Unlike some other films that were released this past year (such as Dune and The Matrix Resurrections that were available to stream on HBO Max), Scream 5 was exclusive to cinemas when it first launched, and was not available for streaming day-and-date.

Eventually, however, the film became available in the US on the subscription-based Paramount+ streaming service.

Paramount+ is a major streaming service (it started its life as CBS All Access and eventually changed its name), that includes content from CBS, Paramount Pictures, Showtime and more. It is primarily known as being the home of Star Trek – including the new shows, such as Star Trek: Discovery.

Paramount+ will be coming to the UK later this year – though an exact date hasn’t been announced yet (so for now, it’s only available in the UK for those using a VPN).

As part of its partnership with Sky, Paramount+ will also be available as an app on Sky Q, and will be free to Sky Cinema subscribers – but other customers will also be able to subscribe to it via a standalone app.

How To Watch Scream 5 Online In The UK

Scream 5 is available to purchase and stream digitally since March 30, 2022.

The film is available on Amazon’s Prime Video store, Rakuten TV, Apple’s iTunes, and other streaming video stores.

This is not a Premium Rental – instead, the film is available as a digital purchase, which you buy and then own digitally.

At its initial price point, it’s similar to the cost of past premium rentals, such as No Time To Die and Dune (which were £15.99), there’s one major difference – a premium rental is only available to watch for 48 hours, while a digital purchase lets you own the film indefinitely.

At a later date (usually a few weeks after the initial release) the film will also become available as a lower-cost digital rental.

At more than two months after the film’s theatrical release (in the UK), Scream’s digital release is later than what we’ve grown accustomed to in recent months.

However, it is still much earlier than films of the past, where it used to take several months before films transferred from movie theatres to home entertainment.

Once Paramount+ launches in the UK, there’s a possibility Scream will become available to stream on it at no extra cost – but some Paramount films still end up on Sky and NOW, so it’s too early to tell.

Scream 5 DVD And Blu-ray
