Paramount+, the streaming service that brought popular series like Halo, Yellowstone, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to UK viewers, has announced a new limited-time subscription offer.
Since its UK launch two years ago, Paramount+ has been building its library with content from CBS, SHOWTIME, Paramount Pictures and other major US broadcasters.
Usually, Paramount+ UK costs £6.99/month or £69.99 for an entire year.
The platform, also home to blockbuster films like Top Gun: Maverick and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is now looking to expand its subscriber base, by offering a 3-for-1 deal.
Later in the year, Paramount+ is expected to roll out several significant changes in the UK, that may finally include a 4K tier, along with an ad-supported tier (see more on that below).
Paramount+ Summer Deal: Full Details
The new promotion, which will be available until July 9, 2024, includes:
Duration: 3 months of service for the price of 1 month.
Cost: £2.31/month for the first three months (so 67% off the regular price).
Eligibility: The deal is only available to new and returning customers. So if you were subscribed before, that’s fine – but you can’t get it if you currently have an active Paramount+ subscription.
Auto-renewal: Once the discounted three months are up, the subscription automatically renews at the regular price, so if you don’t want to keep it, remember to cancel before that happens.
Free trial: The usual 7-day free trial is not included with this offer.
Where To Get The Deal: On the official Paramount+ website.
Also, remember that Paramount+ is also available via Amazon’s Prime Video Channels, but that subscription is separate – so you can’t use a direct Paramount+ subscription on Prime Video, and vice versa.
Paramount+ in the UK: Changes Are Coming
Paramount+ launched in the UK in 2022, offering content from networks and studios including CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, and SHOWTIME.
The service currently maintains a single subscription tier priced at £6.99 per month or £69.90 annually, a price point that has – somewhat surprisingly – remained unchanged since launch (but we’re not complaining, of course).
However, Paramount+ has announced plans to introduce new subscription tiers globally:
The new Premium Tier:
- Will offer 4K content and Dolby Vision HDR
- Increases concurrent streams from two to four
- Expected UK pricing: £10 to £12 per month (estimated based on international pricing)
Ad-Supported Tier:
- Will provide a lower-cost option with adverts (similar to the ad-supported tiers on Disney+, Netflix and others)
- Potential UK pricing is around £4.99/month (estimated based on international markets)
Launch dates for these new tiers in the UK have not yet been announced.
Recent US Pricing Changes
While not directly impacting UK subscribers, it’s worth noting that Paramount+ has recently announced price increases for its US service, effective August 20, 2024 for new customers and September 20, 2024 for existing subscribers.
The ad-free Paramount+ With Showtime plan will increase by $1 to $12.99 per month in the US, while the ad-supported Essential plan will rise by $2 to $7.99 per month for new subscribers.
This was the second US price increase in the past year, and while we in the UK can consider ourselves lucky to still have the same launch price, the US changes may indicate a potential future price increase on our side of the pond as well.
For now – if you’ve been on the fence regarding Paramount+, you can at least take advantage of the limited-time reduced pricing.
