Black Adam, the DCEU superhero film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is now available on UK streaming services, where you can watch it on your TV – less than two months after its release in UK cinemas.
The film, which was a moderate hit around the world (with a sequel already in motion), was released in VOD stores in the UK, for digital streaming, on December 5, 2022.
Black Adam was released in UK cinemas on October 21, 2022 (the same day as the US). Therefore, its streaming release date is just 45 days after its theatrical release – which is a very short window (but is common these days).
The film’s early release is as Home Premiere title (films that come to streaming earlier than usual), and the digital purchase price is, as of this writing, £19.99, with the Digital Rental price being £15.99.
It is available to buy or rent (where you can watch the film for up to 48 hours once you start) in SD, HD and UHD (4K), with the Premium Digital version also including several special featurettes and bonus material (see below for the full list).
The DVD and Blu-ray editions of Black Adam are also available to pre-order. The official release date for the DVD/Blu-ray editions is January 16, 2023 – so you will most likely receive your pre-order a day or two after that date.
Black Adam, directed by Jaume Collet-Serr, is the first-ever feature film exploring the story of this DC Super Hero.
In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam.
Nearly 5,000 years later, Black Adam has gone from man to myth to legend. Having been freed from his earthly tomb, he is now ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Black Adam also stars Aldis Hodge (TV’s City on a Hill) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life, Rush Hour 3) as Adrianna, as well as Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. T
In the US, the film will also become available at no extra on HBO Max, a streaming service that includes shows and films from DC, HBO, Universal Pictures, WarnerBros and others – although a date hasn’t been announced yet.
How To Watch Black Adam Online In The UK
In the UK, Black Adam is available on the digital VOD store platforms, both as a Premium Rental and for Digital Purchase, from December 5.
A Digital Purchase lets you “own” and stream the digital copy of the film indefinitely, via the VOD store you bought it on.
Premium Rentals / Purchases (also known as Home Premiere) offer films that were very recently available in cinemas, therefore the cost is higher than regular digital rentals.
As with all video rentals, once you start playing a digital rental, you only have 48 hours to complete your watching. If you purchase the film, you will be able to watch it indefinitely.
The digital purchase price, as of this writing, is £19.99, and the Premium Digital Rental is £15.99.
The film is available on some of the leading UK streaming services, such as Amazon’s Prime Video store, Google Play Store, Rakuten TV, and other streaming video stores.
While still more than a month after the film’s theatrical release (in the UK), at just 45 days, it is still earlier than films of the past, where we had to wait several months before films were transferred from movie theatres to home entertainment.

Will Black Adam Come To Netflix In The UK?
Typically, films tend to jump from digital VOD stores to subscription-based streaming services a few months after they’re released for purchasing (though sometimes it takes even longer).
However, in the UK, new Warner Bros. films tend to end up on Sky and their streaming service, NOW – and not on Netflix. That was the case with The Suicide Squad, Dune and others in recent years.
Also, even though this is a superhero film – it is based on DC’s characters, and not Marvel – therefore we’re not likely to see it on Disney+.
Instead, there’s a good chance we’ll see Black Adam on Sky / NOW in a few months.
